Mickey and Minnie’s Magical Kingdom

This half term, we will be taking part in a Geographical study of Florida. We will be looking at its location, climate, tourism and land use and then comparing it to our findings from our Romsey study.

We are looking forward to our hook day where we will be creating biscuits, hurricanes and Disney castles as well as meeting some of the wildlife native to Florida.

Maths

In Maths we will begin the half term focussing on more efficient methods to add and subtract larger numbers.

At home, please practice counting in tens and hundreds. Also it would be beneficial to practice adding and subtracting smaller numbers mentally.

Guided Reading

Our book study this half term is ‘Flat Stanley’ by Jeff Brown.

We will be taking part in lots of activities based on the story and linking it to different aspects of our own lives.

English

This half term our writing will be based on our Guided Reading book. We will be looking at a variety of genres based on the discussions we have in class.

In our weekly ‘Exciting Writing’ sessions, we are beginning to identify the features needed for different genres and are choosing our own targets for writing.

English is set on a Thursday, due in on Monday.

Spellings are set on a Monday for a test the following Monday.

Reminders

Our PE sessions are on a Monday and a Friday. Please ensure your child has their PE kit in school on these days. You may also want to include trousers and a long sleeved top for your child's outdoor session as we move into the colder months.

Please remember to send a water bottle into school for your child to use during lesson times as it is important to help us learn.
