Severe Weather situation - School Closure

28th February 2018

Snow Closure

Dear Parents

I have been considering the latest weather forecasts for the Romsey area and have decided that the school will be closed all day tomorrow. The reasons for this are:

  1. The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for the region on the basis of snow and ice. They now rate the situation as ‘likely’ and ‘high impact’.

  2. The dropping off or collection of children to our site during severe weather conditions would create a high degree of risk to safety.

  3. I believe pupils, parents, and staff would appreciate an early and clear decision about whether the school is open tomorrow to allow them to make necessary plans and reduce risks

Teachers will be uploading work for pupils to the school website under Children/Year Pages/Snow Days.

At this stage it is unlikely that the school will be open on Friday although a decision will be taken tomorrow after we have had updated forecasts and been able to assess the conditions on the school site. We will communicate this decision to parents via the school website and via text & email.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Many thanks for your cooperation in this matter

Please stay safe and warm

Yours sincerely

J Clay
