We all really enjoyed our visit from Rhys Jones on Friday as part of our Geography topic of Mighty Mountains this half term. Rhys is an English mountaineer and was the youngest person to climb the seven summits (the highest mountain on each of the World's seven continents), and reached the summit of Mount Everest. Rhys is local to Romsey. He grew up in the New Forest, Hampshire, and was educated at Romsey School and Barton Peveril Sixth Form College.
He started climbing as a result of hearing a talk at a Scout meeting. We were all completely inspired and amazed by his photographs and talk about all his adventures. Maybe one day, one of us will start climbing and exploring as a result of seeing him!
