At Cupernham, we use Boom Reader to track reading at home. As part of our celebration of reading, every ten reads at home equates to a golden ticket. These tickets are then entered into a half-termly draw for the chance to win a book from our vending machine! The more children read, the more chances they have to win!

At Cupernham, we use the FFT reading assessment programme. This allows school to effectively and accurately assess children's reading needs in order to provide them with the most appropriate books. As a result of this assessment, children will bring home a 'grapple' book which, as the name suggests, is designed to support children in developing their decoding and comprehension skills. This will often take the form of a colour-banded 'levelled' reading book from the Oxford University Press range. They will also have an 'enjoyment' book from our extensive school library which could take many forms - fiction, non-fiction graphic novels and more!

We have also invested in the Oxford Reading Buddy programme. More details about the many benefits of this online resource will come in the near future as we develop our use of this programme. Watch this space!
