What is Sports Premium?

The PE and Sport Premium has supported schools to make significant improvements to PE, school sport and physical activity since 2013. The purpose of the grant is for schools to make additional and sustainable improvements to the provision of PE and sport for the benefit of all primary-aged pupils to encourage the development of healthy, active lifestyles. The sport funding can only be spent on sport and PE provision in schools, as well as improving the quality of mental health.

 It has helped schools strengthen their provision and remove barriers so that all children and young people, regardless of their background or ability, can achieve and thrive through access to high-quality PE, sport and physical activity opportunities.
