  • About Us

    Welcome from the Headteacher

A very warm welcome to our new school website!

At Cupernham Junior School, we strive for every individual to be the very best they can be. Our vision is firmly rooted in our relationships with one another and within our values, which permeate school life. This sense of purpose is embodied by our four core values of Responsibility, Kindness, Joy and Aspiration and our five learning values (our Cupernham Cs) of Curiosity, Creativity, Courage, Collaboration and Commitment.

We are hugely proud of our school which is well regarded by the community that we serve. Cupernham Junior School is an aspirational and caring place of learning, where the development of the whole child is at the forefront of our thinking, decision-making and daily life; our dedicated and passionate staff aim to provide a nurturing and supportive learning environment where every child is encouraged to achieve their full potential. Above all, our school is a joyful place, the success of which is underpinned by the positive relationships that exist between all members of our school community, children and adults alike.

Our school website is intended to give you a glimpse into who we are and what we do. Please do not hesitate to contact the school directly with any queries you may have or, alternatively, please call the school office on 01794 512702 to arrange an appointment or school tour.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

    Our school at a glance

Cupernham Junior School is a community school that proudly serves the children and families of Romsey. It is situated on the north side of Romsey, a pleasant market town within easy reach of Winchester, Salisbury and Southampton. The school was opened in 1968, and has grown over the last decade to be a three-form entry school, having up to 360 pupils aged between seven and eleven.

Our wonderful school building provides twelve light, well resourced classrooms, a spacious multi-purpose hall, a central library (recently redesigned and installed), an ICT suite, a food technology area, and a music and drama suite and even our very own race track (the Cupernham Circuit!).

The school shares an attractive, eight acre site with Cupernham Infant School with whom it has close links.  The grounds are being extensively developed in order to maximise the learning potential for pupils as well as providing a pleasant environment.

Particular features of the extensive grounds including a very large playing field, a pond and environmental area, two sets of large play apparatus,  as well as various planted areas of shrubs and trees. As well as the normal outdoor sporting facilities, the school also benefits from having its own outdoor, heated, 20-metre swimming pool, which is used throughout the second half of the Summer term, culminating in our swimming gala at the very end of the year.

We are very much a community school and enjoy playing a central role in the local community, working alongside a range of community organisations.
